Under the leadership of Executive Director Xavier Rivera Marzán, Utilities and Energy Management (UEM) provides reliable and cost-effective electricity, chilled water, steam, deionized water, compressed air, emergency power, and elevator services for The University of Texas at Austin.
Xavier has a wealth of experience with leading utilities and management organizations in both higher education and the private sector. Most recently, Xavier served as Executive Director of Utilities and Energy Management at the University of Kentucky where he led a team of 120 utilities and energy management professionals. Previously, he held the position of Director of Energy and Utilities at Purdue University where he led a team of 128 energy and utilities professionals.
Xavier has a Master’s degree in Leadership from Georgetown University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, and a certification in Project Management from Georgetown University.
UEM employs more than 190 employees across five divisions: Electrical Distribution and Elevator Services, Energy Management and Optimization, Mechanical Distribution, Power Plant and Chilling Stations, and Support Services.
