This team, led by Budget Director Elvia Rosales, is responsible for developing the university’s official operating budget, financial reporting, financial analysis, and fiscal analysis legislation affecting the university. In addition to annual duties such as a preparing the University’s annual operating budget, the Budget Office also provides support for daily operations including processing approved budget changes throughout the year and coordinating budget systems and procedures with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting and Financial Management, and other applicable departments. The Budget Office works closely with colleges and units on all financial related issues and strives to provide quality service in support of the university mission. This fiscally-oriented team provides complete, thorough and accurate reports to university stakeholders and serves as a liaison with UT System, the Legislative Budget Board, and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for budget-related financial data.
FIS/User Services/HRMS Support
Financial Information Systems (FIS) User Services provides direct and online support to facilitate the effective use and development of the financial and administrative systems, tools, and processes for the benefit of the university business community. Systems managed by FIS include HRMS, FRMS, DEFINE and many others.
The Payroll Office is led by Director Leslie Saucedo, and is responsible for the production and distribution of payroll checks to approximately 38,000 employees a year, as well as federal and state tax reporting and compliance, the administration and remittance of employee deductions and employer contributions, departmental fringe assessments, retiree insurance billing, and nonresident alien taxation. The primary goal of Payroll Services’ staff is to provide excellent, accurate, and timely service to all customers, while also ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
