Announcing Kerri Battles as the Director of FAS Communications

Dear FAS colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Kerri Battles has been appointed to Director for FAS Communications effective April 1, 2022. Kerri has held the role of Interim Director since June 2021 and previously held the position of Assistant Director for FAS Communications.

As Director, Kerri will oversee all marketing and communications from the Office of the Senior Vice President and CFO and will work closely with units within FAS to develop communications, marketing and content strategies. In addition to leading the FAS Communications team, Kerri will also lead the development of communications professional development resources, training and tools and will lead our FAS Communications Council comprised of representatives from across the portfolio. Kerri will also serve as our primary communications liaison with University Marketing and Communications and communication professionals across the university.

Kerri has a wealth of communication experience at the university. She has held communication roles at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. Prior to joining FAS Communications, Kerri was the primary communicator for system implementations including Workday, DocuSign, UTLearn, and Duo. In her role as assistant director for FAS, Kerri launched a series of communication planning professional courses that include planning methodologies and tools to help aid all of FAS in their communication planning. Kerri also has a Bachelor of Journalism from UT’s Moody College of Communication and a Master in Mass Communication Studies from Texas State University. Kerri recently won several University Marketing and Communications awards for her work in COVID-19 communications planning and marketing for the university’s COVID-19 vaccine hub and ambassador program.
