COVID-19

Preparing for the Future, Grateful for Our Campus Community

Dec. 16, 2020

Dear UT Community,

This week, as UT administers the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Austin to front-line health care workers, we know that we feel a new sense of optimism even while a “return to normal” seems far off. The difficulties presented by the disease are not fully behind us, and there is much work remaining before we turn the corner on COVID-19. While we are all investing a great deal of effort to succeed in the near term, we have an opportunity to begin to ask some fundamental questions about what returning to campus might look like when it is safe to do so.

Maximize your time off, recharge to keep the momentum going

Nov. 11, 2020

Dear FAS Colleagues,

Nearly three months ago we opened campus to a new way of learning, living and working during COVID-19. Our commitment to teamwork, service and innovation has helped guide our critical work as we close in on the end of a historical semester. We have accomplished a tremendous amount while managing our own well-being and mourning the virus-related deaths of two of our FAS colleagues. The triumphs, sadness and uncertainty span beyond our work shifts and yet we show up, every day, and keep pressing forward.

FAS colleague dies from COVID-19

Oct. 8, 2020

Dear FAS colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I share that one of our staff colleagues has passed away from COVID-19. This is devastating news and a tragic reminder that the virus is very serious and can affect anyone. I am heartbroken about this loss, and the university offers its full support to the individual’s family, co-workers, and loved ones.

COVID-19 Guide for FAS Staff launched

Sept. 23, 2020

Dear FAS Colleagues,

You continue to impress me. We have accomplished a tremendous amount of work during very stressful times. For many of us, the fall semester also meant changes with our personal routines, such as navigating school with our own children. Through all of this - and as we learn more about COVID-19 - your health remains my top priority.

FAS efforts make a new, historic semester possible

Aug. 26, 2020

Dear FAS Colleagues,

Today marks the beginning of a fall semester like no other in the 137 years of The University of Texas at Austin’s history. Although our preparation for today has come with challenges, COVID-19 has also inspired so much innovation since the spring. Our university is able to welcome students back – both online and in-person – because of our teamwork, resilience and dedication.

Commitment, teamwork for safe fall semester operations

Aug. 13, 2020

Dear FAS Colleagues,

Summer has always been a busy time for us, and this year was no exception. Although we will have fewer students, staff, and faculty on campus this fall, our work is more critical now than ever before given our additional due diligence in preparing the university for learning, working, and living during this pandemic.
