Diversity Commitment

FAS Diversity Commitment

Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) is dedicated to supporting the mission of the University of Texas at Austin of unlocking potential and preparing future leaders of the state. One of the essential elements of meeting that mission is conducting our work in a way that reflects our value of diversity in its many facets.

To that end, we want all of our employees to feel confident that their varied backgrounds and experiences are valued. In a similar manner, we embrace the expectation those experiences, in concert with the portfolio’s other values of innovation, integrity, service, stewardship, and teamwork, will inform their work.

We commit to supporting our staff with training and professional development to ensure diverse voices are invited, included, and listened to in our work environment. We promote and sustain a sense of belonging for all of our colleagues. We commit to growing our retention, promotion, recruitment, and hiring efforts to improve diversity at all levels in the portfolio.

Equity, diversity and inclusion remain mission-critical to the FAS culture. Our responsibility to each other is to create conditions that reflect our core values and support the growth and inclusion of all FAS employees.

Our Vision Statement

Fundamentally, the concepts of equity, inclusion, and diversity are human issues. And our success centers on embedding inclusion, diversity, and equity excellence in our employment experiences and operations. Only then can we maximize our relationship capital with each other and our customers. Toward this goal, our staff and leadership collectively examine and improve the portfolio’s policies and practices, as well as our individual behaviors. Doing so shapes our organizational wellness, impacts our business outcomes, and burnishes our institutional reputation.

Our Purpose Statement

In FAS, our employees are at the center of who we are and everything we do. While we are different, we all share the innate desire to belong. To this end, and in accordance with FAS values, we create a healthy operational culture where all employees feel safe, connected, valued, and respected. It is this type of culture from which our best ideas and solutions germinate. By infusing our different ways of thinking, learning, and doing we are positioned to fully understand and meet the evolving needs of our stakeholders— students, faculty, staff, and community partners—to advance UT’s research and academic mission.
