Interim Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Daniel T. Slesnick is the Interim Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at The University of Texas at Austin. In this role, he serves as the financial steward of the University’s resources and as the chief executive for the Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) portfolio. FAS comprises business and financial units with 300 employees dedicated to providing support services to the university community.
As Interim CFO, Slesnick serves as the executive sponsor for many of the University’s strategic initiatives including the 10-year strategic plan, Change Starts Here. He also serves as the head of the Council of University Business Officers (CUBO) and serves on the Vice Presidents Council, University Business Council, Core Crisis Management Team, Executive Compliance Committee (ECC), and several other executive leadership groups.
Slesnick began his career as an assistant professor in the Department of Economics and was the Rex G. Baker, Jr. Professor of Political Economy before he began his administrative service to the university. He served as an Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts from 2007 to 2010 and was a Vice Provost and Senior Vice Provost for Resource Management from 2010 to 2019. Slesnick has a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Washington.
